Amlan Basu is the Group Medical Director of The Huntercombe Group and a Non-Executive Director at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. He qualified as a doctor in 2002; trained at the Maudsley Hospital as a psychiatrist and researcher at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London; was later appointed as Clinical Director of Broadmoor Hospital, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Amlan was one of the founding cohort of the Q initiative, a joint quality improvement initiative between NHSE and The Health Foundation, and has created and implemented improved clinical governance processes both within the NHS and the independent sector. He has brought both forensic and medicolegal expertise to the development of improved learning methodologies and has particular clinical and/or management experience of forensic services, adult mental health services including psychiatric intensive care, intellectual disability and autism, in-patient child and adolescent mental health services, and neuro-rehabilitation. He is a member of the Expert Witness Institute, and is an alumni of the Cranfield University General Management Programme and the Windsor Leadership Experienced Leaders programme.
