Acting as deputy to the Strategic Operations Lead on all matters relating to THIS, you will contribute to the development and delivery of strategic aims across many areas, with operational responsibility for finance and financial sustainability, management, planning and resources. This important role would suit a flexible, motivated, highly organised individual who will work closely with other members of the Operations and Fellowships team and with other team leaders across THIS Institute.
A key responsibility will be leading work on the institute’s financial resources (~£4m to £7m annually) identifying strategic funding opportunities and supporting applications, contracting, and procurement. You will need sound leadership skills and will manage a small team focused on finances who support this area of activity. We are looking for someone with great communication skills, particularly around explaining financial information and providing advice to a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Candidates must have a degree level education or equivalent, with proficiency in business and/or financial management. Experience of report writing, and a strong track record of administration as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential. Excellent organisational and people management skills and the ability to work on your own initiative, prioritise work and keep to tight deadlines are required. You should also be confident with standard IT packages and spreadsheets.

The position is full-time, part time considered at minimum 0.8 FTE.
Location: Strangeways Research Laboratory, Worts Causeway, Cambridge CB1 8RN (approximately 2 miles south of the city centre)
