Dr Rebecca Simmons
Rebecca is Deputy Director of THIS Institute, providing strategic leadership for a number of initiatives supporting the Institute’s work to strengthen the evidence base for improving healthcare.
Rebecca has oversight of all Institute business functions, including finance, communications and governance. She heads the Fellowship programme, which aims to grow capacity and capability in healthcare improvement research, and also leads applied research programmes in THIS Institute.
Rebecca originally trained as an epidemiologist and has held research positions at the MRC Epidemiology Unit in Cambridge and the Steno Diabetes Center in Copenhagen. She was also a Visiting Professor at the University of Aarhus in Denmark and spent some time in higher education as Head of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office at the University of Cambridge. Rebecca is a Fellow at Murray Edwards College in Cambridge.
Rebecca’s main research interests relate to the primary and secondary prevention of type 2 diabetes and the improvement of healthcare services.
