Dr James Skinner

Research Associate

James is a postdoctoral Research Associate working on the TYPPEX project looking at IAPT services for people with common mental disorder and psychotic symptoms.

He is also working in collaboration with the Birmingham, RAND and Cambridge Evaluation (BRACE) Centre for rapid evaluation on a project looking at mental health services for children and young people.

James is a sociologist with a background in qualitative methods. He has a PhD and an MPhil in sociology from the City University of New York, and an MA and BA in sociology from the University of Leeds and Keele University respectively. He has held previous research and teaching positions in the UK and the US.

Research Interests

James’s research interests include mental health service provision and policy, and religion and spirituality in healthcare.
