Growing capacity and capability in healthcare improvement research is one of THIS Institute’s key goals. We’re achieving that goal through a fellowship programme where talented researchers lead high-quality studies that will advance the field.
Building on the improvement science programmes previously run by the Health Foundation, our programme offers fellows the opportunity to join a supported community of improvement researchers and develop their research leadership skills. Fellowships may be held at any UK university, and are available at three levels tailored to researchers’ specific career stage: PhD, Post-doctoral and Senior.
Who can apply
Our fellows will apply their skills to studying improvement in healthcare quality and safety and deliver the highest standards of research excellence.
Applications, which will be managed through applying universities, are welcomed from clinical and non-clinical professional backgrounds and from a wide range of disciplines. Alongside disciplines such as health services research, epidemiology, and social science, we’re looking for researchers who will contribute fresh thinking from fields within and beyond healthcare, including law, business studies, philosophy, engineering and many more. To be eligible, you’ll be required to show how your research will add to the evidence base and be relevant to the UK health system.
