Matthew is a Research Associate specialising in human factors/ergonomics and decision making.
Matthew is a chartered human factors specialist with an MSc in Ergonomics (Human Factors) from Loughborough University. He has several years of industry experience applying human factors in engineering with a focus upon the design and conduct of user trials. Most recently he has held a position as a patient safety researcher and educator for the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences at the University of Oxford.
Matthew’s research is in the discipline of human factors/ergonomics, a systems approach concerned with the study of interactions between people, technology, tasks and the environment to inform design. He is interested in the application of decision-making theory to study hospital bed management and patient flow. He is also concerned with methods to elicit input and develop consensus from clinicians and managers in the work system design and evaluation process.
