Trevor Sheldon is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences. He joined Queen Mary University of London in July 2020 where he is Interim Deputy Director, Wolfson Institute for Population Health, and Professor of Health Services Research.
Previously he was Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of York, Professor of Health Services Research & Policy in the Department of Health Sciences, Dean of the Hull York Medical School, chaired the Board of the York Health Economics Consortium and was a Non-executive Director of Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
He co-directs the UK Prevention Research Partnership- funded ActEarly consortium which focuses on early life changes to improve the health and opportunities for children living in areas with high levels of child poverty.
He is a member of the PREPARE partnership between the King’s Fund and the University of York, supporting policy making by providing fast, responsive analysis for the Department of Health and Social Care.
He chairs the NIHR Population Health Career Scientist Award panel and chairs the Advisory Board of the NIHR Yorkshire and Humber Patient Safety Research Collaboration.
