Neelam Heera-Shergill is a TEDx speaker and founder of Cysters and Maternity Justice Network, an organisation born from her own struggles in accessing diagnosis and care for PCOS, Endometriosis, PMDD and later recurrent miscarriages. Witnessing healthcare disparities faced by people of colour and marginalised communities, Neelam set out to challenge the trivialisation of reproductive health and the impact of patriarchy, outdated cultural beliefs, and male-dominated spaces.
Under Neelam’s leadership, Cysters has grown into an inclusive, evolving organisation committed to creating safe spaces for all communities. Neelam remains dedicated to reclaiming narratives and ensuring marginalised voices shape solutions that reach grassroots communities.
Neelam’s work has been recognised with a Pride of Britain award, a Point of Light award from the Prime Minister, and inclusion in Birmingham’s 30 under 30. She also serves as part of the Birmingham Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership, championing inclusive maternity care.
