Judith Smith is Professor of Health Policy and Management in the Health Services Management Centre at the University of Birmingham. She is Chair of Health Services Research UK, and Director of Health Services Research within Birmingham Health Partners, the partnership that brings together local NHS Trusts with the Universities of Birmingham and Aston.
Judith has worked in health services research for almost 30 years, focusing on the organisation and management of primary care and general practice, integrated care, evaluation of new models of care, and organisational governance. She is Trustee and Chair of Health Services Research UK, the membership body for health and social care services research. Judith is Senior Visiting Fellow at the Health Foundation where she works as expert advisor on primary care to the Policy Team. She is also Senior Associate of the Nuffield Trust, and Director of Health Services Research within Birmingham Health Partners. From 2015-2022, Judith was Director of HSMC and prior to this spent six years as Director of Policy at the Nuffield Trust in London.
