Have you or someone you care for received treatment for a respiratory condition or infection? Want to share your experience?
Researchers from the University of Cambridge and RAND Europe, a not-for-profit research organisation, are creating a public involvement group to ensure that people with lived experience of respiratory illnesses have a voice in evaluating Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) Hubs in England.
What is the evaluation about?
The goal of the evaluation is to understand the impact of Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) hubs
in England. These hubs are designed to:
- help people who are experiencing acute respiratory symptoms, such as coughing or trouble breathing, to get medical advice and treatment for their symptoms quickly (typically on the same day they requested)
- help prevent people with respiratory infections, such as the flu or COVID, from going to their GP or to the A&E, where they could potentially spread their infection to others
We want to understand how these hubs have been set up. We also want to know how they operate. We’re interested in the experiences of people who work in them. We also want to hear from people who use them, or might use them in future.
What will members would do?
As a member of the group, you’ll attend three to four online meetings over 12 months. During these meetings, we will share updates and ask for your advice on various aspects of the evaluation. Your input will help ensure the evaluation reflects the perspectives of those most affected by respiratory illnesses. Outside of these meetings, we may ask for rapid cycle feedback, and regularly test our ideas and refine our approaches.
Who we are looking for?
Applicants must be over 18 years old and based in England. We are looking for:
- people who have had a respiratory condition (e.g. asthma, COPD) or a respiratory infection (e.g. flu, COVID) and have received treatment from a GP, hospital or acute respiratory infection hub
- Carers who have supported someone with a respiratory infection to access treatment in England.
Take part in this opportunity
Express your interest in joining the public involvement group by completing the form below. The closing date is 18 May 2025. We’ll get back to you soon after that.
